My Chickens Enjoy the Spring

Spring makes everyone happy, even the chickens.

Spring also brings visitors

Our cat, Monkey, a long-haired Siamese, climbed the wall and tried to hide on the clock when, Balou, our oldest daughter’s Rottweiler, came into the room for the first time.

Spring brings babies

Tar Baby has her first calf.  A little girl….humm-m  now what to name the baby!

Disking the last cornfield

Before anything else can be done, disking takes place.  Here the last corn field on our place is being disked.  Since this is a corn field it will then be plowed and rolled.  

Rolling the Fields

After plowing the dirt has to be smashed to make soft soil.

Working the Ground

One of the first things to be done, is to ready the ground.  Here plowing begins at dawn.
