This special rod goes under the row of beans, lifts them up so they  are light and fluffy, pulls any weeds left in the ground, so the weeds can dry along with the beans.

The bean puller sets on the front of the tractor, is full of special rods that pull up the beans and push them into rows.

When pulled the beans are allowed to dry for at least a week.  The weather needs to hold, hot and dry.  If the rains come the rows will be smashed flat and the beans buried in the mud.  Not good!  Hot, dry weather, no wind, is what we need now.
