LOOK! We have MUD!

But it is still cold, drops close to zero nightly (that will help the noon thaw), and warms up to around 32 for about an hour daily!
I still have to put the heat lamp on the chickens, but I don’t have it turn on until it hits 21 degrees.

Still we HAVE Mud! YEAH!

I’m envious of your mud. We have frost and cold and snow. Twenty five below zero tonight and for the next three days. It’s too cold to be outside.

Winter = mud here. Wet, sticky, slick clay mud. It is worse in the winter than the spring!

I’m glad that it’s warming up for you during the day. We’ve had some nice afternoons here lately. 32 – 36 degrees. Nice to see the eve’s dripping but definately no mud. Too much snow here for that. My chickens won’t leave the hen house – they are afraid of freezing their feet!

We’re getting more and more snow here in Michigan. When it does go away its just for like one day before it snows again.

Funny thing to be excited about mud, isn’t it? Don’t you still have a lot of cold weather to go this winter. I can’t even guess about here. 67 in Denver today, yesterday brought wind gusts up to 100 miles an hour. (and fire on the dry fields). Tomorrow is suppose to get colder again. So strange. Hope all of your chickies will be fine.

what do you use to keep the chickens water from freezing?
I have been keeping a heating lamp on the hanging waterer, but two days ago the bulb got broken I dont know if they swung the waterer into it or they just broke it, I couldnt find all the glass either!:( The only heater I have seen is for a floor waterer and my girls just make such a mess of anything on the floor so I have everything hanging.
