Second Cutting of Hay

The weather turned off ever so hot, 104*, making it hard to bale the hay with the ‘perfect’ amount of dew, but it got done!
Done and stacked and some has even been sold. What a relief.
After the days and days of heat, lack of air movement, a cold front has started through. Good!

Nice looking hay. Large bales or small? Still some for sale?

we finally got our first cut done, the forecast was scorching for the next week and wouldn’t you know it the day after it poured! =) Our hay was so tall that there was a buck standing in it and we could only see the tips of his antlers! Crazy! It’s a beautiful crop, hopefully it dries well and we get it baled soon. We do round bales.

Hurray! What a great feeling it must be to have that behind you. I’m glad the weather cooperated even if it was hot.

very good to see that your hard work has paid off. I’m seriously thinking of buying a cow so you can send me some hay, hey?

I can almost smell it!! I love that smell, it is a flood of childhood memories!

Ahhh, that looks so pretty! You can just send one of those stacks on down here.
Did you know… it was 116 here today?
UGH!!!

Looks like a lot of hard work will become a lot of good feed.

Those little poles will hold up a stack that size? Amazing.
I kid. Looks like your right on target but than what do I know about that stuff.
Soaked and ate the black beans this weekend. Yummy. Thanks for sending them.

Great photos, the wheat in this area is being harvested now. If you could send a little of that cooler weather over this way if would be nice. The temp in the shade of my patio is 101 right now.

Good job! It always feels so good to have it all baled up and stacked neatly!
Looks purty enough to tie a big red bow on it.

Wow! That is a lot of hay. We could use it over here, right about now. Our pastures are looking really dry and we will need to feed the cattle soon…

We are still chilly. 68 degrees right now and it will probably rain a little this evening. Glad you got your hay in (o:

What a feeling of relief and satisfaction. A farmer’s work is never done, reap what you sow, repair, paint, upgrade and do it all over again!
