The Sunday Stills assignment is birds this week. I’ve had a hard time getting photos of the many birds around the place so I had to settle for a photo of my chickens before the snow came.

About dayphoto
I live on a farm in Colorado, the western side of Colorado, called Delta.
Farming, as a way of life, is fast disappearing in western Colorado, due to farms being sold to developers/subdivisions.
Therefore, I decided to share with anyone who was interested, what farm life is/was like in my lifetime.
I can honestly say that I now understand what the American Indian felt like as he watched his way of life disappearing!
Yes, chickens *are* just as much birds as the others, and these are very charming ones anyway! Nice shots of them to brighten a winter’s day.
I love chickens…glad you chose them (o:
No snow here…yet… I just walked and it was a lot colder than I thought it would be.
Snap! Chickens count! They’re such characters aren’t they?
yes indeed they are, amazing birds. i always love to watch their swift moves in childhoods. I use to eat 1 egg a day
Good shots of your chickens:)
Great old free range chickens! I’ve been away from free range eggs for sixty years and I still remember how great they tasted.
What’s wrong with chickens? Yours look like they’re in pretty good shape to me.
These are great! : )
Happy, healthy hens! Wish mine could roam free like yours. Great pics, Linda
Blessings!
Love your chicken photos. I miss having a flock of little red hens to clean out the bugs and leave warm brown eggs. I don’t miss cleaning out the hen-house though. Some day I may ask you for some of your favorite chicken photos that I could use for painting reference.
I was going to say … looks like you don’t have any snow! They I re-read that you wrote “BEFORE the snow”! lol!
I only WISH I had chickens.
Happy hens count! Good job!
I thought the same thing, I always wait until the last minute and then can’t seem to get good pictures! The hubby said the same about taking pictures of the chickens.
Pretty chickens.
Nice layers! I had the same problem, it wouldn’t stop snowing long enough for me to run outside with the camera, then it poured after that.
Great pictures of your chickens, Linda… Hope you all are having a great weekend. Do you have lots more snow now???? We have had rain-rain-rain the past week. Yesterday, it was so dreary –with dense fog all day long. Yuk…. ha
Hugs,
Betsy
Chickens are good! I wonder if anyone will do eggs…..
Yup… chickens qualify! I can’t wait until we get some!
I love your header photo of Boomer. What a great action shot!
Cute, are those Rhode Island reds?
I am unable to view your pictures, so sad, rotton connection out here but Good Morning Linda! c
I think they fit great! And they look very good, too. What breed are they?
Good try
Like!!! I thought about the hens and pea fowl, but I was too lazy to climb up there.
