Starting Over April 12, 2014

A blank computer…that is where things are now.  Back to square one. What a sadness!

My computer lady reloaded all my operating software, accept my printer and my camera…I  will have to do so myself.

I have Carbonite (THANK HEAVENS!!!) With the help of Christopher (who works for Carbonite) the download of all my documents—farm stuff…everything you can imagine I am getting closer to getting back online.

At this point the Carbonite download site says everything will be back an in place in three more days.  (Yes, I have lots of ‘life’ on the computer).

So by Tuesday…I hope… everything will be a go ahead.

Thank you for still dropping by and checking in on me.  It’s been a huge long stressful time.

Linda

  1. So glad to welcome you back. Computer life can be stressful in spite of all they add to our lives. I’m glad I have Carbonite after hearing about your experience. Do you have any idea of the cause?

  2. I realize this whole situation must be very frustrating, but it sounds as if the end is in sight. In the meantime I hope you are having some nice Spring weather which you can enjoy.

  3. The “stuff” we have on the computer. Then when it crashes, UGH! Ya just wanna pull your hair out, cry and scream! I have a thumb drive now that I put stuff on so if my comp crashes again, it’s there. ( hopefully) !
    Hang in there.

  4. Well—glad you are getting things back to normal… Carbonite is good… We don’t have it –but have lots of individual external drives for all of our backups. We thought about getting Carbonite –but we have WAY too much and it would take a month to upload everything there …. SO–we’ll just keep the external drives (which go with us when we travel)….. Works for us.

    Welcome back!!!!
    Hugs,
    Betsy

  5. We’re still here! I do understand computer problems, tho mine turned out to be the router. Got it rebooted and I’m good to go! I have carbonite, too, so am glad to hear they are helping you. I’ve not had to use them…..yet! Hope all is computer-well by Tuesday.

Love your header, Linda. We are to be hot and windy here today, but a very cold front is coming in tomorrow night and our high Monday is to be 48* with freezes both Sunday and Monday nights.

    Blessings!

  6. Life at the end of the tunnel!
Technology is something that we take for granted. It never used to be like that but now we just know that when we press the ‘on’ buttoneverything springs into life……..until……
the day that it goes wrong. Then our world, our comfortable technological bubble is turned upside down and we become disorientated. No longer able to live our normal life……
have you ever read The Machine Stops by E M Forster, it is frightening but this is our world today, relying on computers.
however I am pleased that yours has been repaired and that you and technology can walk hand in hand and I will be pleased to see you back again xxxxxx
    what is Carbonite?

  7. Linda, So sorry you’ve had such a rough couple of months – what with the nail in the foot and now the computer. So glad you will be able to recover so much of it, but so sad that time (THE unrecoverable) has been lost. I was very very happy to see you back online, if but for a moment. Hang in there.

  10. Yea! Getting back to normal ~ a good thing! We are expecting at least 10″ tomorrow, so we seeded today so that the moisture will do it’s magic. Daffodils and crocus are blooming, yea 😀 Take care and stay warm! So glad you’re almost back and running.

  11. I have had to go thru the exact same thing. Thank god for Carbonite. It took a while, but everything came back. It is kind of trickly getting all of your old emails and bookmarks back, but it can be done, they are in there somewhere. Most of what I have on the box is pictures, and I now keep a separate hard drive with all of those on it, so if disaster strikes again, I can load those directly on the new machine, and it will shorten the recovery time tremendously. Carbonite will recognize what you have on the new machine, and not try and duplicate it. I wish you well

  12. Good luck; I’m going through the same myself with a new computer and waiting on Carbonite to get me up and running. Waiting on a storm to hit Denver and the Front Range tonight and hoping you get some of the snow on your side of the Divide.

  13. So glad to you have you back! But I do feel for you. Losing your computer is like losing part of your heart and brain. So much love and memory and information is stored inside. I am glad to hear you’re piecing things back together, and happy to see the flower blossoms in the header…that means you’ve got Spring and beauty and maybe that helps lift your spirits. It sounds like it’s gonna be a long slog, though, Linda. Chin up. Soon, this will be behind you. And this is a new format too?? Nice!!!

  14. Hi Linda! Welcome back. 🙂 I was oh-so-happy to see your post. Very sorry, though, that you are having a frustrating time of it. Look at it like Spring, all your leaves and flowers were dropped in the fall/winter and now it is time for you to do it all again???

  15. I’m so happy you didn’t lose everything! I wigged out when our new computer didn’t immediately upload all my photos (25K+). Eric was able to retrieve them, but not before a good cry on my part.
